The usual arrangements re swim sessions will continue throughout the rest of the week ie Thursday and Saturday will be as detailed in club newssheet.

Coleraine win PTL Gala

Coleraine won the last PTL gala of the season 641 – 503 points. This victory means they finish their season undefeated and should earn promotion to Division 1. Despite some fine individual swims and relay events Coleraine were undoubtly the stronger team whose swimmers included several Ulster and Irish champions. Thanks to all who competed, acted as time-keepers and gala officials. The catering team ended up winning their event hands down!

Congratulations to Aquasprint Squad!

What a finish! PASC 201 points Breifne (Cavan) 199 points. This is just about as close as it can get. Congratulations to everyone who took part in what truely was a fantastic team effort. The next Aquasprint gala is scheduled for 10th March at home against Dungannon. To help select the best swimmers a further time-trial will be held on Thursday 16th February. All big pool swimmers who have 2000 or younger D.O.B. are expected to attend.

PTL Gala Saturday 11th February

The PTL squad face Coleraine ASC on Saturday at Cascades Leisure Centre. Swimmers are asked to be at the pool no later than 4.15 pm for a 4.30 warm-up! As is usual practice there will be no big pool swimming on Saturday morning, small pool sessions are unaffected. Hospitality has always been one of our strongpoints – the arrangements are simple - girls bring sandwiches and boys bring tray-bakes. Tea, coffee, juice is provided by the club. Refreshments are first and foremost for the swimmers, coaches and parents of the visiting team followed by our own members! We have always been well treated on our travels and it remains our wish to return such hospitality.

Considerable time and effort goes into selecting teams. Swimmers cannot ‘pick and choose’ events to suit themselves! Anyone unable to swim who has already confirmed their availability should contact Dee on 07548643135 as soon as possible! It is unfair to everyone involved to leave it until the last minute or simple not turn up!

PTL Gala Saturday 28th January

The Senior Squad are off to Letterkenny on Saturday to compete against local club ‘Swilly Seals’.  All swimmers are asked to meet at Cascades no later than 3.15 pm so that we can check off names and get on the road for 3.30. Warm-up is scheduled for 6.00 and we hope to be back home around 11.30 pm. The good news is that Jonathan Hilliard may make it back in time to compete, the bad news is that he may well sing on the way home! Best of luck to all taking part.

Changes to swimming schedule!

Please note the following changes to our normal sessions for this week.

  • No big pool swimming on MONDAY 9th January due to  BB gala.
  • No swimming on THURSDAY 12th January due to coach training.

Aquasprint Gala Saturday 7th January 2012

The waiting is over! The first Aquasprint gala of the season takes place at Cascades on Saturday where neighbours Lurgan ASC will be our opponents. Swimmers are asked to be at the pool in good time for a 4.00pm warm up. This will be the first gala experience for several of our junior swimmers and we wish them all the very best. Aquasprint galas are always enjoyable and although everyone wants to win it is still great to see the emphasis on enjoyment and participation and we would ask all spectators to show their support and appreciation for those taking part.

Ballymena win PTL Gala

The PTL squad returned home on Saturday losing by 90 points to hosts Ballymena. This was always going to be difficult but the absence of 12 ‘first choice’ swimmers for one reason or another meant that a win was almost impossible. Several squad members were asked to swim up so that relay teams could compete while others had to swim every stroke to make up numbers. Despite the loss of so many swimmers there were a number of excellent performances throughout the team. This was a gala we could have won but with so many swimmers missing and others having to swim strokes they would not normally do the result was never in doubt. All coaches would like to thank the team members who did their best under such difficult circumstances, they did what they were asked to do without query or complaint. The next gala is away to Swilly Seals in Letterkenny on 28th January. The final acore was Ballymena 619 Portadown 529.

Christmas Holiday Schedule

All sessions will operate as usual up to Wednesday 21st December. This will be the last club session until Wednesday 4th January 2012. PASC would like to wish all swimmers and their families a very Happy Christmas. May Santa pop down everyone’s chimney. Have you asked yourself the all important question? Naughty or nice?
