Olympic Torch comes to Portadown!
The Olympic torch will pass through the town on Tuesday 5th June. The route will take it (via relay runners) from the Armagh Road roundabout (4.39 pm) past the bottom of the Brownstown Road, into the town centre, over the Bann bridge, up the Carrickblacker Road and along the Gilford Road as fas as the town boundary where it will return to ‘convoy’ mode as it moves on. It will no doubt attract large crowds to cheer its passage. A number of events have been planned to celebrate the occasion taking place in various ‘hubs’; full details will be available in the local press along with precise times to view the torch as it is carried through the town. We, as a club hope to mark the day with a ‘fun’ gala in Cascades providing there is enough interest and support. Please inform those at the club desk on Wednesday night if it is your intention to participate.
