Congratulations to both teams who kept everyone glued to their seats from the opening medley relays right to the last D Boys freestyle relay! It was clear that this was always going to be a close result with only a few points separating the teams all night, first it was Portadown ahead then it was Ballymena and this is the way it continued fraying nerves on all sides. Eventually, it came down to the last event of the evening – the freestyle relays – with both teams keen to win. In the end, there was nothing between the two squads and it finished with one of those very rare scores – Portadown 572 points and Balymena 572 points – a fair result given the way the points had gone all evening. Well done to all who took part, there were several great individual and team swims. Our next PTL is after the Christmas break, till then there is plenty still to be done!
Please note the following changes to our normal sessions over the half-term break at Halloween.
Thursday 31st October – NO SWIMMING
Saturday 2nd November – NO SWIMMING
- PASC V Limavady Saturday 9th November 2013
- PASC v Ballymena Saturday 30th November 2013
- Cookstown V PASC Saturday 25th January 2014
- Coleraine V PASC Saturday 22nd February 2014
Please note: there is NO SWIMMING on the Saturday morning of a PTL gala!
We hope to arrange a trip to the new ‘Aurora’ complex in Bangor on Saturday 7th December instead of our usual Panto performance. The complex has attracted huge interest since it opened and we need to get an idea of how many swimmers are interested as soon as possible. The activities/facilities are suitable for all ages but it is a rule that children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Interested? Then leave your name at the club desk on Wednesday night.
We are hoping to introduce an element of land-based training to take place on Tuesday night, the exact time is yet to be confirmed. There will be a small charge to cover room hire and obviously the more participants, the cheaper it will be! Members are asked to sign up at the club desk or speak to William Clint for further information. This type of activity has proved to be very popular in the past and will help swimmers improve their general fitness.
We are trying to find a suitable sponsor for our club kit bags. Sponsorship would mean that we would place a company/business name alongside our PASC logo. If you or anyone you know would be interested please speak to club officials at the desk on Wednesday night. We rely heavily on fees and fund raising events to keep the club afloat and any extra assistance we can find would be appreciated.
